Leyland Titan PD2/12 Double Deck bus: KCH 112/ABV33A

Birthday bus: 50 years old this year!!!!

This vehicle was rescued from a scrapyard in Kirkcaldy on 10th August 2006.

ABV 33A registration plates on vehicle indicate a reregistered vehicle. Chassis number corresponds to Trent Bus KCH 112. 1956 chassis then bodied by Metropolitan Cammell Works in Birmingham. Into service 1957. Trent fleet number 769 (carved into cab plus detailed in 1965 Ian Allan book with this number). Prior to 1962 it would have carried fleet number 1012.

Specs: Leyland Titan PD2/12. O.600 cubic inch (9.8litre engine).

Chassis: 562584.

The vehicle is currently fitted out as a playbus but we intend to restore it to original condition as a bus over the next few years (H32/26RD). Likely to be in colours of a Scottish independent operator who ran similar buses. We have discovered that Garelochhead Coach Services (West of Scotland) ran KCH 125 and KCH 123.

Currently we are looking for covered storage to allow us to work on the vehicle. Are hoping our fine Scottish bus museum will find a space for KCH 112/ABV 33A.

Thanks to all at Henry Gray at Kirkcaldy and the Lathalmond Bus Museum who have helped us in saving this bus.
